Writing

At university I wrote documents for the computer department and professors. In the corporate world I wrote and worked with business editors and publishers.

After moving from Toronto to the San Francisco Bay area, I worked in computer support, then began writing training material. While in the training group I worked with writers and trained to write. My writing and teaching skills have taken me around the world.

I write blogs, stories, poetry, and hardware & software articles. I'm working on a few short stories.

Books

Getting Started with Sun One:
My technical computer book.
One section included the design of a web server.
The best parts were on product design, implementation architecture, usage. I should have skipped installations.

It was a great experience writing and getting it published. A highlight was seeing it for sale at the Stanford University bookstore. It has some good design content, but I was an inexperienced writer. I have improved since then.

A Christmas Card:
I rewrote A Christmas Carol for fun and as an exercise to learn how to write a story. Charles Dickens was my instructor on the topic of composing a story.
Instead of sending a Christmas card one year, I sent the book.
